WebOct 17, 2006 · My 88 F250 w/460 had the external oil cooler mounted up front behind grille next to rad. 2 lines were plumbed thru an adaptor plate for o/f. (not remote) as I recall. Seems possible to make conversion if parts avail. but dont know cost VS replace with OEM. As mentioned, maybe try junk yard? No real help here, just surprised on change. I have considered removing the oil cooler but I think I will then be faced with the dilemma of finding a shorter shaft that must be installed in the block to attach the oil filter.
